The weekend was facilitated by early career members who went through the Sparks program previously: Andrew Lewis (Old Bridge EA), Kevin Bloom (Sayreville EA), and Mark Neurohr-Pierpaoli (New Brunswick EA). Middlesex County EA President Lois Yukna and NJEA UniServ Field Representative Tom Bohnyak also provided guidance and support.
At Sparks, members engaged in conversations around issues that mattered to them, participated in fun activities, and worked collaboratively on a final project. The agenda was developed based on members’ responses to a survey. Topics of discussion included the association structure, school law, basic collective bargaining, and organizing across generations.
The Monmouth County Education Association is hosting a Sparks weekend on March 10 – 11, 2017. Learn more about this event here.
